If there is one Italian restaurant in Brussels capable of surviving the decades without losing its soul or its finesse, it is undoubtedly Le Coq en Pâte, a gastronomic institution since 1972Located in Tomberg, the restaurant of the Bacchetta family continues to delight Brussels gourmets with its refined Italian cuisine, praised by the Gault & Millau (13 / 20).

A story that evokes the best of Italian tradition

From its inception, Le Coq en Pâte has championed a sincere and demanding vision of Italian cuisine. The chef Olivier Bacchetta, a worthy heir to a family know-how passed down for over 50 years, revisits southern classics with precision while bringing a subtle creativity to them.
Here, every dish is thoughtfully designed, balanced, and elegant. The ingredients are carefully selected, the textures expertly crafted, and the seasonings precise. It's a vibrant, contemporary, seasonal cuisine, brought to life by a passionate team.

A cozy atmosphere… and a perfect little round table

The modern, cozy decor creates a warm atmosphere, ideal for a romantic evening. Special mention for the small round table sheltered from the noise, a small, discreet cocoon that adds an extra touch of charm to the experience.

Our tasting: flawless from start to finish

We opted for the Evening menu at €48, remarkable value for money for a table of this level.
From the very first bites, the tone was set with a beautiful bruschetta with pomodorinimascarpone and pistachios — simple, fresh, perfectly executed.

The starters confirmed the mastery of the cuisine:

  • Organic poached farm eggdelicately placed on a Belle de Fontenay potato cappuccino with a generous grated winter trufflesA dish of pure gentleness, offering absolute comfort.
  • As an alternative, a Insalata russa “vintage”, twisted by large prawns marinated in lemon, crunchy puntarella and grissini. A fresh plate, full of relief.

For the main course, two options that tell the story of Italy at its finest:

  • Monkfish cooked in rosemary butter, accompanied by a black and green cavolo saltimbocca and reduced minestrone juiceA dish of remarkable precision, as aromatic as it is harmonious.
  • Or the veal scalopina from Gers, Milanese style, sublimated by a herb ham, caciocavallo di grotte and a generous duo pumpkin – mini chanterellesA true declaration of love for traditional Italian cuisine.

Finally, the choice between the three mini desserts of the momentdelicate and indulgent, or a selection of Italian cheeses matured by GuffantiA must-have for enthusiasts.

At the end of the meal, we were delighted… and full. The plates, deceptively minimalist, turned out to be much more generous than they looked.

A warm, professional and attentive service

The staff deserve special mention: kindness, precision, and sound advice about wineDiscreet but attentive service. This level of service greatly contributes to the experience.
