Exhibition and Vernissage at Brussels Space, 2022 by the artist Elise Hameau

SAVE THE DATE ! First exhibition and opening of the Espace series by Elise Hameau at the Abeille Blanche.
On June 9, come and discover this original series by Elise Hameau. This work is intended as a door to a normally inaccessible world, invisible to the naked eye, that of microscopic or gigantic spaces. What happens in the infinitely large or small worlds? Through flamboyant colors and a 3D texture, your imagination gets carried away in its own visions and interpretations. Psychedelic experience? Maybe for you.

“Picture yourself in a boat on a river / With tangerine trees and marmalade skies…”*. In the series of paintings proposed by Elise Hameau as part of the exhibition Espace figure Sky with diamonds. As in the song of the Beatles, there unfolds a sky dotted with colored diamonds. In the center of it shines a white sun enamelled with bright dots and surrounded by a string of dotted lines. It is they, and not Lucy, absent from the painting, who constitute the guiding thread of the painting. Omnipresent, they connect the diamonds to each other, introduce themselves into the slightest interstice and are so numerous that they come to saturate the canvas, the first space which echoes the title of the exhibition.

If it initially designates a surface, a space is also defined as the distance that separates one point from another. In the work of Elise Hameau, the dots establish links between the elements, but also underline the gap between them, highlighting the intervals. They are both junctions and separations; they connect as much as they single out. Tiny, they sometimes nestle in larger, round, vibrantly colored patches. They can take the form of a pearl or a sparkling drop, which stands out in relief thanks to the blob paint, a mixture of acrylic and smoothing medium.

Applied by pressure of a bottle, the paint flows on the canvas placed horizontally, it allows to form rounded points.
Space is also the sky and the environment in which celestial bodies evolve. Elise Hameau brings together on a canvas several universes (Multiverse), a set of stars (Galaxie), their representation (Constellations). But the microscopic is also a cosmos: human cells resemble planets (Mitosis); their nuclei to stars (Core). Painting appears as a telescopic tool making it possible to represent a reality inaccessible to the naked eye, whether it is located light years away or constitutes us. Dotted lines establish connections, draw plans. Chart of the sky or nervous tissue?
Network of paths or constellation? They run again, revealing the swirl of the Milky Way, nerve endings, unveiling a flower like a delicate firework (Nature). When the dot expands into a circle that makes up the diagram of a mandala, the cosmos reappears.
