The history of this place

It was for the benefit of the "New Vanderborght Brothers Establishments" that it was built in the past. The Vanderborght Brothers were used to working together in trade. Their business was mainly centered around carpets, trinkets, garden furniture, bedding, etc.

It was in 1935 thanks to the architects Govaerts and Van Vaerenbergh that the VANDERBORGHT space was born. We find a modernist and practical style, devoid of any ornament.

In total, five floors made up of modular trays make up the whole. Note its huge windows giving great visibility. At the time, the store stood out from the others because of its huge terraces. At the same time a place of exhibition of garden furniture but also a place of relaxation where it was possible to have tea.

Unfortunately in 1980, the store went bankrupt and the Royal Museums of Fine Arts even considered transferring the modern art collections there. The project remained unfinished.

The VANDERBORGHT space nowadays

Today the place hosts many exhibitions. Many are centered around contemporary art. Each year, three major events are scheduled:

  1.  Business Card ARTopenKUNST (February), More than 200 artists and amateur and pro exhibitions take part in the exhibition during an exhibition weekend. http://cartedevisite.brussels/

Barely a foot in the Belgian capital, Pierre launches "InsideBrussels.be", the idea is simple: "What to do? Where to go eat or have a drink?" Entrepreneur at heart, this is not his first project! Far from there. Like wine, with time the project improves! Pierre does not hesitate to share his favorites and his best addresses of Brussels restaurants that he could recommend to you with his eyes closed.
