To find out where the Brussels area is affected by the low emission zone? It's easy! The entire territory of the Brussels-Capital Region is concerned. By this is meant the 19 commons in the entire area inside the ring. The Ring is therefore not affected. Also, the roads that lead to transit parking areas are not affected. A “Low Emission Zone” fine? How much does it cost?

Surveillance is done 24 hours a day, 24 days a week via cameras. If you are Belgian, you do not need to register. On the other hand, the vehicles of foreigners must via the internet make the procedure in advance. If you receive an administrative fine for unauthorized access you must pay the sum of 350 € / Quarter. If you arrive in the low emission zone, you can a maximum of 8 times a year pay a pass of 35 euros.

Derogation for low emission zone in Brussels

Certain categories of vehicles are automatically exempt from the Brussels low emission zone. Look at the list on the official site, but these include, for example, motorcycles, certain heavy goods vehicles designed for the transport of goods, agricultural tractors, electric or hydrogen cars, "oldtimers", priority vehicles such as those police, firefighters, army, etc.
