Want to go back in time and discover the evolution of the automobile with the family? Head to Autoworld, a unique museum located in the Parc du Cinquantenaire in Brussels. This weekend, my partner and I had the chance to visit this temple dedicated to car enthusiasts, and we were won over!

A journey through time for young and old

As soon as we arrived, we were impressed by the imposing architecture of the building, which formerly housed the Palais des Expositions Universelles from 1897. As we entered the doors of Autoworld, it was a real journey back in time that awaited us. More than 300 vehicles, carriages and motorcycles from different origins and eras are exhibited over more than 8 hectares.

Iconic models for all tastes

From iconic models from the beginnings of the automobile to the most modern racing cars, there is something for everyone. Our children were fascinated by the vintage fire engines, gigantic trucks and shiny motorcycles. They were able to get behind the wheel of certain miniature models and even have fun in a games area dedicated to the little ones.

Temporary exhibitions and special events for the whole family

Autoworld also offers temporary exhibitions and special events throughout the year, often suitable for families. Ideal for a weekend with teenagers. During our visit, a treasure hunt allowed children to discover the collection in a fun way.

A boutique area and welcoming staff

The museum also has a shop area where you can find souvenirs, books and miniatures for young and old. We fell for a key ring with the image of a Volkswagen Beetle, a nod to our first car.

Beyond the richness of its collection, Autoworld stands out for the quality of its facilities and the friendliness of its staff. The exhibition spaces are spacious and well lit, and the information on each vehicle is clear and accessible to children.

The staff is welcoming and available to answer your questions. We had the pleasure of chatting with a passionate guide who captivated our children by telling the story of some key models from the collection.

An ideal outing in case of rain

Autoworld is also an ideal destination in case of rain, as all of the exhibits are located inside the building. You will be able to enjoy a pleasant and informative visit with your family, whatever the weather. Watch our Brussels program here when it rains

Free entry with museumPASS

Finally, don't forget that entry to Autoworld is free with the museumPASS, a pass that gives you access to many museums and attractions in Brussels. Find out more about the museum pass in this article
