However, you need to know the good Belgian restaurants to eat well in the city!

What do we eat in Brussels?

If words like calf's head in turtle sauce, Stoemp, Waterzooi, rabbit with Kriek beer , endives au gratin, headless birds, eels in green sauce, pressed head cheese , and fried steak tartare sound like they're straight out of a horror movie, it's high time you stepped into a Belgian restaurant to try them. And you'd be better off going to the best restaurant!

Don't hesitate to step inside a Brussels brasserie to sample the must-try Flemish carbonnade, the famous chicken waterzooi, endives au gratin, rabbit with Kriek beer… Thanks to InsideBrussels , we're publishing a list of our favorite Belgian restaurants in Brussels . It's sure to tantalize your taste buds in the land of fries, beer , and chocolate…

Don't hesitate to indulge in Belgian sweets… For example , the famous Liège or Brussels waffles , Liège laquemans, praline , rice tart, Liège coffee , chocolates from Marcolini or even homemade speculoos .

1. Emile Bistrot: the "homemade" Belgian brasserie where you don't reach for dessert

Emile Bistrot Belgian Brasserie in Ixelles

You'd recognize Emile Bistrot by its typically Belgian bistro setting and its welcoming, very helpful staff. They won't hesitate to offer advice. Some dishes are designed to be shared, just like at home, served in a casserole dish. We had the homemade vol-au-vent with organic chicken. Delicious! Be warned, the portions are quite generous, sometimes leaving you wanting more than dessert. Don't be surprised by the size of the hamburgers; they're quite substantial . In short, everything is very pleasant, even more so when you know that all these Belgian dishes are homemade.

2. La Boule d'or: the friendly little Brussels café in Saint-Gilles

We've been talking about it for a while, being passing through the Saint-Gilles market, it was absolutely necessary to test this Belgian brewery.
So we went there with friends. Certainly the place is not very big, and therefore some days without reservation it would have been impossible. Here is what to spend an excellent moment between friends in such a friendly atmosphere. In short, we feel good there. The menu has the right dishes, everything you expect is there. The dumplings are pretty good. Everything is made with very good products, for a very reasonable price. The experience is therefore to be repeated, very nice to eat with friends or family. although this Belgian restaurant is always crowded, it remains a pleasant atmosphere with local food.

3. Le Pré Salé: A simple and affordable Belgian brasserie in Sainte-Catherine

Here's simple and delicious food at an affordable price . The place is very welcoming! If you look at the fresco above the bar, you'd think you'd stepped out of the final scene between Jesus and his apostles. Given its central location, the staff is trilingual. They take great care of all the customers and offer excellent advice to help you choose. In the kitchen, you'll find traditional dishes like eel in green sauce, Flemish-style carbonnade, and mussels and fries . Meat lovers will be happy; the meat is incredibly tender and melts in your mouth. It's a shame they charge extra for fries and sauces … I have a particular fondness for the delicious mussels and fries, which come in very generous portions, as well as the eel in green sauce. Don't miss the chance to try the Belgian fry sauces; in Belgium, there's more than just mayonnaise!

4. Le Trappiste: The Brasserie Belgian restaurant open 7/7 (from Porte de Namur)

Eating Belgian Porte de Namur: The Trappist

A really nice restaurant, ideal for a drink or enjoying a Belgian brasserie dish (for example, a good pot of mussels or carbonnade) in the Louise district. The endive au gratin with mashed potatoes is a real treat. The service is quick and efficient. Most of the dishes are generous. My favorite place after a movie!
