Girls (culinary delights) Rue du Vieux Marché in Brussels

It is well known, in general, girls like pretty decor, locations cozy, good small spot and the friendliness of a time with friends. Girls Culinary Pleasures  full street of the old grain markets in Brussels are no exception to the rule! Their concept shop-restaurant-cooking workshop is a resounding success. We already told you about it in our article on the best brunches in Brussels but this time it's their great lunch that we would like to tell you about.

“Les filles” a discreet address reserved for connoisseurs

The Girls are discreet and only well-informed Brussels residents know what is hidden behind this large porte-cochere from the 18th century. In the street of the old grain market at n°46, a large slate displays the prices (in 2015) of the lunch (16€), du dinner (25€) and brunch (18€). To enter, ring the intercom and wait for the door. And yes, you are not going to eat "at the restaurant", you are going to eat at Les Filles: it's a bit like going to eat at your sister's house, your cousin or your best friend! So act as if you know the place by heart and take the stairs to the first floor because this is where we have lunch at noon.

Table d'hôtes atmosphere in the heart of Brussels (lunch & brunch)

Once at the top of the stairs you immediately discover the beautiful table d'hôtes area with large windows to take advantage of the light, 3 large tables to get to know your lunch neighbors and a nice buffet to feast on ! We take our seats and immediately we come to explain the concept of the house to you: two starters served on the plate then free service at the buffet for the main course and the dessert. Once your drink order is taken, it's a festival of flavors. The day of my visit, to start there was a soft-boiled egg, leek vinaigrette, pesto mousse followed by sausages with coconut sauce and small organic seasonal vegetables. To finish on a sweet note: banana bread and vanilla cream cheese! The menu changes daily according to seasonal products and the inspiration of the moment.

On the one hand, the unique menu, the large tables and the school chairs evoke the friendliness of the canteen of our childhood. On the other hand, the careful presentation and the refinement of the flavors are worthy of a very good restaurant. This is the Girls' table d'hôtes concept.

At Les Filles there is food but not only…

Finally, Les Filles doesn't only host table (because it's well known Les Filles can do several things at the same time!). They also give Brussels cooking classes , they hold a grocery, they prepare gourmet fruit & vegetable baskets and they deliver their good meals to the company
