Where to eat a delicious Korean barbecue in Brussels?

Not everyone was lucky enough to be able to travel through Asia to Korea. That said, in Brussels it is possible to have a taste of it in the Korean restaurants.

If you don't know what Koreans eat, go for bulgogi. You won't be disappointed with this "meat on fire", also known as "Korean BBQ". In Asia, it is a culinary specialty not to be missed. With friends or lovers, we particularly appreciate it for its conviviality.

The principle is quite simple. Slices of beef marinated in a special sauce (soya, sesame oil, chilli, garlic, etc.) are to be cooked yourself on a grill located in the middle of the table. To accompany everything, a bowl of rice and kimchi. Korean tradition dictates that you wrap the meat in a fresh lettuce leaf.

Did this make your mouth water? Here are our best Korean BBQ addresses in Brussels!

Not to be missed if you like meat:

1. Maru: Korean Chaussée de Waterloo

Maru Korean Restaurant

It's simple, beautiful but also very good at Maru. Since the opening on Chaussée de Waterloo, the Maru restaurant has continued to be sold out. Some say it would be the best Korean restaurant in the capital. The uncluttered Scandinavian-style place makes you want to linger. At Maru, you will find fine and delicate Korean cuisine.

On the menu, we obviously find the national dish “the kimshii”. A fairly spicy fermented cabbage. If you are here for the Korean grill and meat like a Korean, don't hesitate to try "the bulgogi". The famous barbecue Korean based on good marinated meat that will be cooked in front of you. As an accompaniment, white rice as well as small dishes such as soybeans, spinach, … Korean sweet potato noodles are also a delight. On the service side, nothing to complain about either, the service is impeccable and attentive. In short, a real treat, but remember to book so as not to stay on the doorstep and miss the long-awaited grill.

2. Restaurant Hana, a Korean in Ixelles Saint-Boniface

Hana is a great Korean restaurant located close to the Saint-Boniface church in Ixelles. This establishment offers a menu full of good dishes such as kimchi, of soups, of noodles do you want some, here it is. Consider tasting the Bibim-bab, a traditional Korean dish served in a bowl pierre which continues to cook once served at the table. Once well cooked, the rice becomes crisp and makes this dish deliciously good! Hana also offers a Japanese cuisine in addition to Korean cuisine, so you can eat crispy, thin-crust gyozas there!  Be careful, at Hana's it's good, so it's often full. Remember to book your table in advance. Small negative point, it's not super big, so a bit noisy.

Upon entering the first room, you be surprised by the impressive number of Koreans who frequent the restaurant. For a moment, it really feels like Seoul. As a European, it is the second dining room that will welcome you. The frame is not nicer if you look at the freshness of the tapestry. But don't stop there and focus on the plate. On the menu, the famous Korean grill fondues: the “bulgogi” and the “Galbi”. A real treat. It is a marinated meat that is placed on the grill and cooked in front of you little by little. As an accompaniment, rice and some vegetables such as green beans like those served in Japanese restaurants, soybeans, seaweed and the famous kimchi (the famous Korean-style fermented and spicy cabbage). In short, a real treat! The meat literally melts in your mouth  In summary, we recommend it! It is also one of the best Korean grills in Brussels. It is therefore very popular and requires a reservation.
