To try to contain the coronavirus, the Belgian government has imposed strict measures. Among these is a new closure of sports clubs in Belgium. Following this announcement, consumers can therefore no longer benefit from their fitness subscription. Since October 23, 2020, sports clubs have been closed. At the time of writing this article, sports clubs are not yet allowed to open. This is now the second time in 2020 that sports clubs have been forced to close their doors. What about the contributions and rights of Belgian consumers? If you have a basic fit card number, this is for you.
Club closures… What about Freeze subscription at Basic-Fit?
It makes no sense to pay for his gym subscription when the clubs are inaccessible as well as the training sessions... During the first wave, as compensation for the temporary closure of clubs, Basic-Fit had put put in place various options available to its members. For example, you had the opportunity to freeze your subscription. So that means they would not take the money from your bank account as long as they are closed.
It had worked quite well during the first wave. To my surprise, during the second covid, without any embarrassment or complex, the sports club took the money from me each month via direct debit! October, November, December… After having contacted Basic Fit via their Facebook page, although my My Basic fit says “Membership freeze: Chosen”… The gym claims I took no action… Looking further down their Facebook page, I'm not the only one… negative comments are pouring in from all sides. So I made the decision for my sports subscription… I still didn't intend to go back there at the beginning of January. The covid will still be here for quite a while. In the end, running in the woods isn't that bad!
How do I cancel my Basic-Fit subscription?
Since the sports clubs are closed, it's quite easy to request the termination of your Basic-Fit subscription
- Visit https://my.basic-fit.com/login
- Go to the subscription section
- Click Cancel my subscription.
- Keep the confirmation that will be sent to you by email.
It's as simple as that. If despite this, it does not work. You can also file a complaint against Basic Fit at Test-Achat.
What does Test-Achat think of the Basic-Fit subscription gel?
On the Test-Achat website, we see that many consumers have already filed a complaint. We clearly read “Contracts that are not performed for reasons of force majeure may not only be frozen, but also terminated. With reimbursement of what has been unduly paid.
