Blue & yellow bins in Brussels – What's going on with the garbage collection  during the COVID19 lockdown?

Over the past few weeks, the crisis in the Covid-19 caused some disruption in the collection of blue and yellow bags by Bruxelles-Propreté (PMC & Cartons). You may have noticed it in certain streets where the yellow bags remained outside for several days. Brussels cleanliness had also asked the inhabitants of Brussels to keep the blue and yellow bags at home.

Good news! Following work to reorganize collections, Bruxelles-Propreté will once again be able to collect a large part of the blue and yellow bags. From this Monday, April 13, the blue and yellow bags will therefore be collected again on the usual days. The majority of blue and yellow garbage bags can be collected and recycled, and finally declutter their homes of their blue and yellow bags.

Bruxelles Propreté invites you, to reduce the volumes to be stored at home, and pick up in the street to fold the boxes, stack the papers flat (and avoid crumpling them). For the PMCs, they invite you to flatten the plastic bottles and close them with their caps.

To facilitate the work of the collection teams, it is imperative that you respect the usual rules:

  • Only take out your garbage bags on the right day (more info on www.arp-gan.be).
  • Close blue and yellow bags correctly
  • Place the bags along the facade.
  • Do not exceed 15 kg per bag

⚠During Covid19, used tissues can NO LONGER be thrown in the orange bag (food waste). In order to protect the agents! DISPOSE of them, after use, in the tightly closed white bag (residual waste).
