Zinneke Pis
We no longer present the famous Manneken-pis. Do you know his dog, Zinneke Pis? In 1999,, on the initiative of its creator the sculptor Tom Frantzen, a statue was erected between Place du Vieux Marché aux Grain and rue des Chartreux.
Less known than Manneken Pis and Janneke Pis, this dog, often discovered by chance, surprises and amuses passers-by.
In old Brussels (“brussellair”), Zinneke means both the little Senne (river that once bypassed Brussels) and a mongrel dog. Today, Zinneke is the symbol of cosmopolitan and multicultural character from Brussels.
If you didn't know Zinneke, there are other unusual sculptures by Tom Frantzen that will enchant you: Agent n° 15 Vaartkapoen & Madame Chapeau.
