How to ensure the safety of citizens of the municipality of Auderghem during this period of COVID19? If the idea of ​​providing a mask to each inhabitant seems simple, it nevertheless reveals itself in the current rather complex context... The industries which produce the masks are saturated with demand. In addition, FFP2 and medical masks are sent first to hospitals to protect medical personnel. To deal with this shortage of masks, the municipality of Auderghem is launching the operation "A mask voor iedereen". The objective is ambitious, to allow during the month of May, that each Auderghemois has at least one mask at home.

Production has already started. Already, a first delivery of 1.289 masks has been slipped into the mailboxes of 557 households in the town. Thousands more will by the second wave. The action is possible thanks to the volunteers as well as the 37 volunteer municipal staff members who take turns in the municipal workshop to coordinate the cutting, packaging as well as the ironing and sewing activities.

 

How can I participate in the production of masks on a voluntary basis from home?

To meet it, the challenge is to produce enough masks to give one to everyone, the municipality is counting on the mobilization and solidarity of people who know how to sew and those who have fabrics.

The municipality of Auderghem will bring you the equipment and take delivery of the masks produced directly at your home (respecting the safety rules of course). How to receive a free mask from the municipality of Auderghem?

You can order a mask on the municipality's website. Please pay attention to conditions before ordering: 

  • Be supportive, if you already have a mask, don't order a second one.
  • Orders are limited to 1 mask per person.
  • Given that the demand for masks is high, the masks will be distributed as a priority:
    • Asked people over 65 living in the municipality of Auderghem
    • people who have to go to work and have no choice but to use the public transport.
  • The masks will be delivered from April 30. Deliveries should take several days. So be patient!
