All about the 2022 IRIS party in Brussels
Every year Brussels is celebrating during a weekend in May. For the IRIS festival, the city of Brussels is organizing concerts, animations Free for the whole family. For children, the Parc de Bruxelles is transformed into a thematic village. You will find fun stands there. For older children, you can attend concerts during a electro evening on the Place des Palais.
The IRIS party also combines with europe day with equally interesting activities such as the parades of Trams along the Rue Royale. The public will even be able to board.
In 2021 and 2020, the IRIS party did not take place due to covid. Take advantage of it, she's coming back on May 7 and 8, 2022 with a hellish program for its 33rd edition. Come and marvel at the performances of more than talented street artists. In summary, this weekend is THE weekend where you have to be present in Brussels and take full advantage of the festivities.
What is the IRIS party?
Attention, we are not celebrating the flower but the anniversary of the Brussels-Capital region. If you didn't know, the iris is the symbol.
Every year, an official party is organized in the Brussels-Capital region. If you are a Brussels civil servant, it's your lucky day, you will be on leave that day.
It is an ordinance of the Brussels-Capital region dating from March 13, 2003 which fixes this event. The date is not chosen at random:
- It takes place during the flowering period of the flower which represents the symbol of the Brussels region: the IRIS (also called fleur-de-lys)
- World War II was Victory Day against the Nazis.
- It is also one of the feast days of Saint-Michel, the patron saint of the people of Brussels. You can see it on the Grand Place in Brussels
Lots of people take part… In 2008, there were 100 participants during the festivities.

This Sunday, May 8, 2022, the Parc de Bruxelles will welcome you for family activities. Come and learn more about how the world works and participate in fun and free activities. In total, the park will host four themed villages.
- village Association: various activities to discover charitable and cultural projects. Take part in games, quizzes, demonstrations, climbing walls, readings, etc.

The food trucks of the IRIS festival
If you are rather Brussels foodie, Meet at Iris Food Corner. It's perfect if you feel like a vacation, because the food trucks present during the IRIS 2022 party will take you on a journey. Join this taste getaway. In total, during the 2 days of celebration, no less than 40 food trucks will be there for you. Rendez-vous between the Parc de Bruxelles and the Mont des Arts on May 7, from noon to midnight and on May 8 from noon to 18 p.m.
You will find world cuisine (such as restaurant ภาษาไทย, Italian, Mexican, African, bagels fish&ships ) but also great classics such as Belgian fries, hot dogs, gourmet citizen…, food truck vegetarians et mocktails and cocktails.
