All about the 2021 book fair in Brussels

What more wonderful than the book to transmit knowledge, knowledge and share our critical thoughts? But not only, the book is also the object which holds a promise of escape, which accompanies us, jostles us and makes us grow. The Brussels Book Fair, is proud to be the intermediary between (future) readers and editors.

Since its inception, the book fair has had a theme each year. It is for example: Dangerous liaisons, happiness is on the page, our futures... It has been now for more than 50 years that the non-profit organization has been organizing this major event in Brussels. If you love good books, don't miss it. This year the fair is online.

A festival in May from May 6 to 16, 2021

Despite the health situation, the Brussels Book Fair wishes to fulfill its mission of promoting books and reading this year. So you can from May 06th to 16th will vibrate to the rhythm of books in Brussels. It's true, we must recognize that reading has never been as important as it is now.

This year, the fair is adapting and the Brussels event is therefore changing form to present its books. Creativity and agility were the new watchwords of programming. The broadcast formats, such as the degree of digitization of the meetings are therefore adapted and comply with health standards.

Book Fair program

This year you will find on the program: transdisciplinary meetings, sometimes unusual. These will obviously revolve around current events, literature for young people as well as the theme of comics.

This year, it's a real adventure… The book fair is coming to your home. 250 authors will be on 11 days combined. These meetings will take place from 6 to 16 Mayi, all available for free onwww.flb.be.

Continuously, from 10 a.m. to 21 p.m., the FLB channel will broadcast talks, great debates, poetic encounters,… This will make this festival more accessible than ever.

The program should be as follows. Here is what FLB offers you:

» At 10:30 a.m., let’s listen to these new voices of literature.
At 12 p.m., let's share a toast with Flemish Flirt duets.
At 16 p.m., it's time for snack with family.
At 19:30 p.m., the aperitif with European authors who will answer questions from Isabelle Wery.
At 20 p.m., we will sit down to eat for a essential meeting with Erri de Luca, Florence Aubenas, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt or Adeline Dieudonné. And of course very many appointments will put our belgian talents in evidence. »

The free online digital platform of the Book Fair 2021

In 2021, the fair will therefore be on a platform dedicated to books and reading on its website. Its goal: to create interaction, move, inform, connect.

For this, it will emphasize the encounter, the experience as well as the lived experience. This new means of communication therefore wants to be a cultural mediator and wants to give the desire to go to the book.
