History of “La Maison Bis-Art Bizarre” and the Museum of Fantastic Art.

Created in 1989 as part of the “Été-Jeunes” event, the Maison Bis-Art Bizarre is the result of the work of Michel Dircken and Michel Souren. While working as animators at the Maison des Jeunes in Etterbeek, these enthusiasts decided, via a small budget received, to quickly make some objects and a phantasmagorical decor. It was after 2 weeks, giving free rein to their imagination that “La Maison Bis-Art Bizarre” was born.

Year after year, they make every effort to ensure that their baby grows. More work and budget, more radio or television advertising to finally arouse the interest of the press. Finally, in 1996, after several months of assembly, they set up an exhibition on 4 levels which will last two months and attract thousands of visitors.

The following year was a pivotal year. New premises for the museum, more precisely at the Clos des Arts des Anciens Glacières de Bruxelles in Saint-Gilles.
