Comic strip trail, a free activity in the center of Brussels

If you've ever walked the streets of central Brussels, you couldn't escape it. The frescoes painted on the walls that revolve around the Bande Dessinée are ubiquitous. Brussels is the capital of comics! In 1993, the City of Brussels undertook to paint the walls of the city. The basic idea was simple and consisted only of embellishing one or the other wall. in homage to comic book heroes. Quickly, the idea took off. These walls that make up the comic strip route have become an opportunity to showcase Brussels in the eyes of tourists and enthusiasts of comics. enjoy it is one of the best free activities to do in Brussels

Take advantage of this great initiative. The streets of the center invite you to stroll in the heart of a " comic book village“. Go and meet the monumental figurines that have adorned your childhood or that of your children!

The theme of comics is vast. You will find for example Tintin, Snowy and Captain Haddock (Hergé) in rue de l'Etuve, between rue du Chêne (Manneke Pis) and rue du Lombard. Gaston Lagaffe and Spirou de Franquin can also be found there. Gaston is located in rue de l'Ecuyer (between rue de la Fourche and rue des Fripiers). Spirou is near the elevator of the Palais de Justice in Brussels.

The very famous Philippe Geluck and his chat has obviously not been forgotten. It is located on the boulevard du Midi at number 87 (between rue Terre-Neuve and rue des Tanneurs). Since 2014, Geluck also has several paintings near Boulevard Général Jaques (near the VUB).

Unfortunately, we cannot list all comic paintings in our article. It is much more preferable to get lost in the streets of the center in order to meet them! Néron et Cie, Ric Hochet, La patrol des Castors, Bob et Bobette and many more await you in the district of Marolles not far from Sablon district!
