Power cut in Brussels: Blackout in several municipalities!

At around 23:00 p.m., it was better not to be in an elevator. Several municipalities in Brussels, including Etterbeek,  Schaarbeek, Evere, Saint-Josse, le center of Brussels as well as certain districts such as Schuman found themselves without electricity.

It's the total blackout. No traffic lights, no more lighting in the streets or at home. Fortunately, we see in the distance the lights of the Saint-Luc hospital which seems to continue to operate.

Earlier in the afternoon, a power outage had already occurred near the rue des Tongres. It would seem that this first silk failure occurred following a problem with a high voltage cabin. Also, around 16 p.m. in Etterbeek, several very short cuts of less than a second each had already appeared.

On Zaventem, the cut would have lasted 10 minutes and the power would have been restored around 23:00 p.m. According to the Twitter testimonials, The other municipalities currently remain without electricity and diving in le black.

The Sibelga site does not seem to respond and displays an error. It is therefore impossible to know more for the moment about this blackout which plunges Brussels into darkness.

If you too are plunged into darkness, it's time to go to sleep, but don't forget to take a look at your freezer, which could thaw and lose its water if the blackout lasts too long.

In the event of a power failure, Electrabel provides a telephone number for Brussels: 02 274 40 66

According to an Official Sibelga Tweet several electricity stations (5 out of 48) are no longer supplied by the electricity transmission system operator, Elia. On the side of Elia, the following Tweet was written: “  bevestigt ernstige stroompanne in Brussel. Eleven ploegen zijn ter plaatse. Oorzaak nog onbekend. Flight info. “. The fault is therefore still of unknown origin.
