The gardens of the Abbaye de la Cambre in Ixelles

Haven of peace and place of tranquility, the Abbaye de la Cambre and its gardens bear witness to a past steeped in history in Brussels. Established as a Cistercian monastery in 1201, the abbey was sold several centuries later as national property in 1796.

Today located in the town from Ixelles, the gardens of the Abbey represent a real island of calm for the people of Brussels.

Composed of alleys lined with yews and boxwood, French flowerbeds, Louis XV pavilion, paths dotted trees and flowers, La Cambre Abbey is a great place to take a walk in Brussels. This is'a real "island of tranquility" in the middle of the city.

On the side of the park located near Avenue Louise, is the part called " King's Garden ». This part of the park was the first urban planning gift from Brussels of the builder king, Leopold II. A few meters away, there is also the imposing " Phoenix 44 , a bird commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Brussels (1994, Olivier Strebelle).

La Cambre Abbey is also a very nice place for a game of petanque,
un picnic or just a nap in the sun! If after your walk you want to eat or take a break, don't hesitate to taste the Brunch at the café de la presse, or have a drink on Place Flagey located nearby.

Barely a foot in the Belgian capital, Pierre launches "InsideBrussels.be", the idea is simple: "What to do? Where to go eat or have a drink?" Entrepreneur at heart, this is not his first project! Far from there. Like wine, with time the project improves! Pierre does not hesitate to share his favorites and his best addresses of Brussels restaurants that he could recommend to you with his eyes closed.
