In this article, I present to you the best unusual restaurants in Brussels. Imagine sitting at a table on a tram enjoying delicious food while traveling the city streets. Or maybe you prefer the quaint ambiance of a treehouse, where every bite is accompanied by a spectacular view. For lovers of calm and reading, a unique experience awaits you in a library converted into a restaurant, where you can enjoy your meal surrounded by books. And for those who like to cool off while enjoying their meal, why not opt for dinner by a swimming pool? Whatever your choice, these unusual restaurants promise an unforgettable culinary experience to share with your loved ones.

1. Unusual: a chip shop in an old tram: the Boitsfor tram

In my quest for extraordinary culinary entertainment in Brussels, I discovered two incredible places: the “Tram Expérience” and the Tram de Boitsfort. 🚋💥 These two places offer a fun and original dining experience, installed on board old trams. The Boitsfort Tram is located in the middle of unfinished rails, where Brussels trams do not run, and offers two distinct spaces dedicated to street food, in a slow-food atmosphere. On one side, I find a take-away area offering portions of old-fashioned fries, hamburgers, light lunches and some great classics from Belgian chip shops. 🍔🍟 On the other side, at the end of the car, is the restaurant area. Four small wooden tables await me to enjoy a 100% Belgian beef hamburger or other delights like croquettes accompanied by homemade sauces. No matter where I choose to settle down, I'm sure to have a fun and delicious time, especially with these deliciously crispy old-fashioned fries. 😋🎉

2. Unusual: eating in a tram experience

I will certainly not miss the meeting with the tram Experience ! At 20:00 p.m. sharp, I have to be ready because the restaurant is starting. It's unbelievable but true, STIB is offering me the chance to enjoy a meal on board a tram: the Experience tram. For two hours, I will cross the emblematic sites of the Belgian capital, such as Avenue Louise or Avenue de Tervuren, while tasting a feast concocted by renowned chefs from the great gastronomic cities of the world. And no worries about comfort! This tram is much nicer than the one that takes me to work every morning, with even a toilet on board for needs along the way. On the Experience tram menu, a three-course meal, varying according to the seasons, promises me an exceptional culinary experience, whether with a Catalan feast, an exploration of new Nordic cuisine, or even the traditions of French gastronomy. 🍽️🚃

3. An unusual restaurant in the middle of divers: Nemo 33

If you've always dreamed of dining on the ocean floor, then the Nemo 33 is for you. Located in a rather unusual setting, the Némo 33 restaurant offers a unique experience. Sitting at a table, you can observe the divers through seven giant portholes while you enjoy your meal.

Why “33”? Well, until recently, Némo was reputed to have the deepest swimming pool in Europe, with a pit reaching around 33 meters deep. Open to all, the restaurant offers Thai menus in a very special setting. The atmosphere is very zen, and for those who are prone to seasickness, the place also has a pleasant terrace to enjoy the view. 🌊🍽️

4. Eating in a shack: The quirky singing fool.

Are you planning a romantic dinner? Do you want to pull out all the stops or rather play the originality card? This restaurant doesn't just focus on what's on the plate, but above all on its unusual setting. What makes this place so unique is that you will have the opportunity to dine atop the treetops. Once hoisted above the four massive trunks, you will reach the restaurant room: the singing madman's cabin. Rather unusual for this rather upscale Ucclois district.

Your dinner awaits you at the top of the cabin. Once installed, you will be alone, one-on-one. The meal will be prepared for you by the caterer Félix, renowned in Brussels for his quality French cuisine. Starter, main course and dessert will be waiting for you, accompanied by half a bottle of champagne, all included in the price. How much will it cost you? 100 euros per person. 🌳🥂

5. An unusual restaurant in a bookstore: The cook & book restaurant

Installed in one of the eight spaces, hundreds of books line the walls. Large dark wooden bookcases serve as separation between the tables. Yes, you read correctly, the concept is a marriage between a restaurant and a bookstore, and vice versa, at Cook & Book. The atmosphere is relaxed and intellectual, with a few notes of jazz in the background to make the sounds of cutlery even more pleasant.

When the weather permits, the street side and garden side terraces are open. In the morning, from 8 a.m., they welcome customers for a hearty breakfast (around 10 euros). On weekends, Cook & Book offers a generous brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 15 p.m. For lunch and dinner, the menu offers a selection of the brand's great Belgian classics, such as beef tartare and tomato meatballs, as well as other more exotic dishes such as wok vegetables with scampi or goat cheese salad.

Recently, a second Cook & Book, smaller but just as unusual and intimate, opened its doors at Fort Jaco. 📚🍽️
