We tested “Old Boy” – Rue tenbosch Resto au Chatelain (Ixelles)

A stone's throw from Place du Chatelain, Tenboshstraat 110, the restaurant La Cantonaise has given way to the Old Boy“. The place hasn't been open that long and already seems very popular. And this, despite the large number of restaurants in this district of Chatelain.

We had already spotted it, tonight we are trying our luck! It's around 19 p.m., the restaurant has just opened, it's not yet full. You should know that the place is not very big and does not take reservations. We had done well to enter because we were conquered. The atmosphere relaxed, the presentation of dishes, choice of wines and flavors in mouth.

If you are a movie fan, the name of the restaurant Old Boy will obviously make you think of the Korean film. We are talking here, however, of a asian restaurant but which offers dishes from different countries.

We are seated at the counter. We immediately realize that the kitchen is an integral part of the decor. Thanks to this direct view of what the chefs prepare in front of your eyes our kitchen, our easiest choice. Everything looks scrumptious. The idea of this restaurant is simple, it is Asian cuisine where you have to choose from a dozen Chinese and Thai tapas to share: Bao Bun, Grilled Chicken with Peanuts, Mussels, Calamari, braised Brussels sprouts etc… It is advisable to take 6 for 2 people. Tapas prices vary between 6 and 12 euros.

If you don't know the Bag. Once you taste it, you won't be able to resist it. It's a steamed Asian bun, in which they place braised pork, sautéed green mustard, crushed peanuts and coriander – delicious. If you are a big eater, you can also take a bowl of rice to accompany your dishes.

On the drink side, you will have the choice between magnificent Cocktails, 3 kinds of red wines or 3 kinds of white wines. Wines are 6-7euros a glass.

For dessert, there was only one: Coconut ice cream, roasted peanuts, chocolate sauce. In short, it did not take long to crack. We did well, because it was a real delight.

It seems that the menu changes quite often, that's what made us want to go back.
